English homework



Here is your holiday homework in connection to our novel, ‘The Tale of Despereaux’:

1)      You should read to the end of the book (which I know many of you have been really keen to do!).


3)      Can you also collect artefacts which you think could represent different things from the novel. These might be objects which represent a character, a scene, something that happens or a theme you have identified. We will collect them all and make a ‘Despereaux’ display area in the classroom.

Consider the following scenarios

Scenario-1
You and your family have decided to move to the coastal regions of Orissa which is flood prone. What type of house would you like to build for yourself and why? (consider the soil in coastal regions)
Scenario -2
You are going to move to Japan for year. Your parents have taken a rented house on a building which is 150 storeys tall. What would you check for before living there? Describe the requirements and why you need them. (Japan is prone to earthquakes and tsunamis)
Scenario- 3
You have gone for a holiday to Iceland and you are so mesmerized by the heavy snow fall that you decided to stay there. What kind of facilities would you like in the house that you stay and why? (Iceland is extremely cold with freezing temperatures)
Scenario-4

The government of Kolkata has asked you to build a bridge across the Ganges river. What are things you should take into consideration in order to make the bridge strong and durable?

Week of 28th November to 2nd December

This week students explored the concepts of- force, tension, compression, center of gravity, atoms and molecules in various ways. They began with watching videos and reading articles. They represented their work and thereafter roleplayed and did some art work on them. Below are some photographs to show the same:
