A happy begining

A new academic year has begun and students were quick to settle down, make new friends and adjust to the routine of school life. They hugged and greeted their friends and teachers and heaved a sigh of relief to see known faces in the classrooms.
The first two days were spent on warm up activities and reflecting on the essential elements of PYP. Here are some photographs of the same

Students took a walk around the beautiful campus on the first day of school

In the photograph below students are engaged in an introductory game:

They reflected on the learner profile continuum on the first two days apart from understanding the meaning of them.

They reflected on AgaKhan strands by matching the sub-strands to the main strand

The rest of the week students got into the groove of the curriculum. In the photographs below students were being provoked with news articles, adverts, books, pictures and magazines for the unit on media. After going through the above they were asked to reflect on some questions.

In Maths students were asked to choose any one number among the numbers: 2, 5, 6 and 9. Thereafter they were asked to make more numbers using basic operations

In English students listened to persuasive speeches of Michele Obama and Donald Trump and reflected on them through a fish bowl activity. They reflected on the following questions:
Whose speech do you like?
What are the things you like about it? (example words used, body language, tone of voice, information given in the speeches, background music).

  1. Thank for sharing. It helps parents to understand how children learn things in different ways and guide them in the same manner at home.
