Week of 7th Nov (Monday) - 12 Nov (Saturday)
Last week students spent most of their time on assessments.
In unit of inquiry they completed formative assessment 2 and 3 which they had begun the previous week. They also finished summative assessment of the unit on civilisation.
In Maths students did a diagnostic on the following strands:
shape and space - 0-3 dimensions, angles, and triangles
number system - BODMAS and PEMDAS/PEDMAS
A pre-unit assessment was done on fractions to gauge students' prior knowledge. They revised the following things:
proper and improper fractions, mixed fractions, equivalent fractions
They also learnt to visualize/illustrate fractions and below are some photographs of the same:
They also used legos to make equivalent fractions:

homework - Collect data and analyse information
Below are some questions you should consider for collecting data. You might have already collected data on some of them and therefore please check and collect data on the ones you need to:

Questions for analysis
- What work did men do and what type of work did women do?- What type of occupation was there in the society (give examples)?
- What is the strcucture of society? (example in Egypt there were Gods, Pharoah's, Scribes and Slaves)
- Who made laws in that civilisation (which section of people were responsible for making laws)?
(Compare the above with today's world- bring out specific examples to validate your point- example there are many different occupations in today's world. Name some of them and find connections between similar occupations. Also name some jobs which never existed until a few years ago.)

Week of 31st October - 4th November
This week in maths students learnt powers and roots and their application and role in order of operations. Students were also engaged in a preunit assessment of fractions and decimals. This was done in order to understand their prior knowledge on fractions and decimals.
In English students completed their research on Greek theater by identifying the parts of Greek theater. They also inquired into the famous playwrights of the time. They also read out scripts of various myths in order to understand the features of a script.
In unit of inquiry students made connections between the past civilisations and present day. They collected data and are in the process of analysing and validating data.
